The Google Castigate Debate Is On!

Posted February 14, 2010 by in Blog | 2 comments

We’ve been online since 2007 but completely redesigned the site.  Here’s why…

It took 3 long years building this site all the way up to a Page Rank 4 and back in early 2010, I was left with nothing to show for it. I had to start over completely from scratch.

Has Google gotten too big to fail?  Who do they think they are anyway?  Search Almighty?

Does Larry and Sergey think they own the internet?   I thought Al Gore did.

So why am I lashing out them?  Will publicly airing my dirty laundry hurt me or help me?  Only Google knows, but at this point I don’t really give a damn.

The short answer… I didn’t keep a 2nd backup of the site.

The first one was corrupted on my computer when I switched from Windows Vista to Windows 7.   How?  Who the f*%! knows how anything happens when Windows is involved. But that’s not the whole story.

This website was first inspired by Mike Filsaimes’s Free Advertising Blog.  I even promoted his advertising site (still do!)  among a few other products of his.  (Thanks Mike for the idea!)  I started this site on the Blogger platform with a free blog, then later moved to a custom domain.  During our short move to the custom name, we dropped rank and had to start all over again!  Frick!  Oh well.  I let it go.  By this time we were getting steady traffic and the site was growing in popularity.  Jump ahead about 18 months, we hit a PR3.

Several months later, we received an email from Google suggesting our blog was spam. The site was ‘suspended’ and we had to validate we were an actual person to get our site back online.

BTW, I’m not a real person.  You are reading this in the Matrix.  LOL!

That was strike 2, but after a few short days all was fine again.  Since this site pretty well ran on autopilot, there wasn’t much maintenance involved, so I focused my attention in building more traffic to Article Gallery. <— Not to brag, okay maybe a little, but my hard work paid off and it made the top 50 article directories list under 2 years!  However, I won’t even mention what Google’s pitchers have done to THAT site stats since all the algorithm changes and dupe content controversy, but that’s another story, another day.

Anyway, by the end of 2009, I started using Wordpress for all my sites and loved all the fancy plugins, themes and gadgets that WP totally put Blogger to shame.  I had been meaning to switch the blogger site over to WP in early 2010 using the simple import function, but I was working on several projects at once and got distracted.  Time slipped away and Google was hatin, while I was procastinatin.  My site was AGAIN marked as SPAM and without warning deleted! Double FRICK!  No answer to my plea for why.  No response to my MANY cries for help.  They said in one instance…You’re out.  GAME OVER!

This time the umpire ejected me from the game.  Permanently!   I wasn’t spitting.  I might have stole 2nd base a time or two, but I played the game fair just like everybody else.

Well, that’s strike 3 Google.  YOU ARE OUT!

From now on, I’m sticking with WordPress and will NEVER use Blogger nor recommend any Google product.  Even if they sandbox this site, at least they can’t delete it on me.

I have been replacing Adsense ads on all of my sites with other solutions.  Adsense pay is weak and the ads are NOT contextually relevant, despite what everyone says.

Thank goodness I didn’t sink tons of money into Adwords because CPA offers pay WAY the hell more than PPC.

Now Facebook had hit a grand slam with their advertising resources.  They are kicking G’s ass in revenue!  This is a real game-changer for Google and they should be scared. Have you read the news on this?  Facebook Overtook Google.

If every single internet marketer who used to pump money into Adwords suddenly switched to Facebook ads or any other services, Google’s ad revenue would evaporate faster than Barry Bonds Hall of Fame votes.  Do they realize how vital webmasters are to their bottom  line?  Do they even give a shit?  Probably not.  For every disgruntled site owner out there, I’m sure there’s about 5 new sites coming online to replace them in revenue.  It’s our job as webmasters and marketers to stay ahead of the curve and competition in order to survive and THRIVE online.

If Google gave some batting practice to HELP webmasters instead of benching them, they might still be a contender for the World Series.

And I know they have spies on the Warrior Forum.  Just as people figure out how to hit better by injecting a little SEO steroid juice, Google throws a spitball and changes the momentum of the game.  And the pitches are aimed directly at the batters!

Well, I’m no rookie anymore and I plan to make it to the big show someday.  Stay tuned for the seventh inning stretch!

Finally, I’ll leave you with some famous words from Field of Dreams…

People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it’s a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh… people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

… and PEOPLE WILL POST HERE AGAIN!

Welcome BACK to Free Advertising Gallery, now post away!

You’re guests in my corn!  I mean… my website!

P.S. I wanted to reveal my issues online and expose my vulnerability as my experience will certainly help someone else in the future avoid the same problems and hopefully others will learn from my mistakes.

If you currently have a blog on Blogger, you should seriously consider moving it to Worpdress, and ALWAYS keep a backup of your site(s) preferably on an external drive or other location besides your own computer.
