Running a business is like fishing in the open sea. Your clients are the fish; your product is your hook. Meanwhile, your profit is represented by how many fish you can see in your pail. With this scenario, come and think like a fisherman. You can’t have fish in your pail without these swimming creatures biting into your hook. Moreover, lowering the hook wouldn’t cause the fish to bite. You can only catch a fish through a line when there’s some bait attached to it.

Some men and women enjoy the hobby more than others, but all can agree that the tug at the end of the line, the disappearing bobber and the first view of that scaled aquatic creature all add to the excitement of sportfishing. It was the perspective of this adventure, and more specifically, the desire to have a freezer full of Alaskan King Salmon, that a couple of years ago landed me on the banks of Ship Creek in Anchorage, Alaska partaking in a local tradition called “urban combat fishing.”
